About the OREA Admissions Test – Math Review for the OREA Admissions Test

Fee: $95 – HST and materials included payable in cash only at the door or in advance through Eventbrite.
Content: This workshop is suitable for both people taking the OREA Admissions Test and those who are in OREA Course 1. It will teach and reinforce the following topics:
Objective: Know What To Do – arithmetic, percentages, ratios, and basic principles of geometry. We will both review the background skills and learn to apply them in the context of OREA exams
Objective: Do What You Know – learn how to make the multiple choice exam format work for you.

When OREA came a private vocational career college, academic prerequisites were established as a prerequisite for admission. There are three ways of meeting the academic admission requirements:
1. An Ontario high school diploma.
2. An equivalent to an Ontario High School diploma.
– includes a post secondary diploma from another province or country;
– some other odds and ends (contact OREA)
– completion of the GED exam (Information regarding the GED is available at The Independent Learning Centre website at www.ilc.org)
3. Passing the OREA Real Estate College Admissions Test with a mark of 50%.
According to OREA:
“The OREA Real Estate College Admissions Test consists of 50 real estate focused multiple choice questions which test basic English comprehension and mathematics. A minimum mark of 50% is required to pass. A real estate background is not a pre-requisite for the test.”
This is a test of basic English and Math up to grade 12. It includes English grammar, basic calculations (multiplication, division, percentages). The purpose is to ensure that applicants have the basic math literacy, language skills and learning prerequisites necessary to complete the OREA program. (The OREA program requires competency in real estate math skills.) It is a three hour test that is composed of 50 questions. The fee to take the test is approximately $50.
At the present time, OREA does not provide a sample test.
In order to take the test you must:
First, set up an account with OREA;
Second, make an appointment to take the OREA Real Estate College Admission Test.

The problem is that OREA Real Estate College does not publish a sample “OREA Admissions Test” that is available to the general public. If they did we certainly would direct you to it. The lack of information about the OREA admissions test is a legitimate concern. We encourage you to direct your inquiry directly to OREA.

George, I know this is a year late, but to you and anyone else who has found this and shares George’s sentiment, this response is for you.
I am a high school dropout. I don’t have a GED and I honestly don’t feel I will ever need either a high school diploma or a GED to be successful in life.
I was a slacker all through high school and I didn’t pay enough attention. However, I managed to pass the OREA admission test. So if you can’t pass the test, then maybe real estate isn’t meant for you.
Literally, an idiot could pass the OREA admission test.
As for tests being kept secret until you take them, welcome to the real world, buddy. That is just how it is and how it has always been. The only tests you can get a hold of ahead of time are usually for trivial pursuits that most likely will not help you much in your life. For tests that truly matter, you will more often than not, need to find people who can teach you specific fundamentals. Which is what this course is offering you.
Yes they charge for this course, but nothing in life is free. That is just reality. $75 is nothing, even if you’re broke. I should know, because I am broke and yet I still managed to pay for my studies and could pay the $75 for this course if I hadn’t decided that I could just figure our the fundamentals on my own through the use of the course materials and the internet.
Remember, if you really want to be successful in the business world you will need to be resourceful, be confident and courageous, be ready to do whatever is necessary, and most importantly, you need to stop whining and pull yourself up from the bootstraps. Nobody is going to hold your hand, this is the real world. Good luck.
Hey Eric! Nice post. I must say, for a high school dropout, you’re well spoken. Reminds me of another dropout I know very well…myself. I’ve gone on to get a number of degrees without a OSSGD. Been in the Real Estate game for many decades and it’s not a easy road traveled. Most Agents don’t even make it 6 months before throwing in the towel. Some of these hopefuls are in for a rude wakeup call. I hope things are progressing for you. Cheers!

Your comments enshrine the need for what you are contesting. By way of your poor grammar, spelling and non-linear thought process, further enquiries should be made as to why you question the requirement and if you should undergo remedial education. How do you propose to meet the requirement of good communication when conveying tangible contract information, when your comment is so very poorly written?
Additionally, we are eluded as to why you refer to immigrants as poor and administrators as children? This innuendo willnot be tolerated in the professional forum of real estate.

Hey Sherry, would you mind telling me some information about what may be asked on the test? I’m sure all the tests are somewhat different I’m not looking for answers more just an outline.
How did the test went and what was the questions Sherry?
Has anyone actually taken the test?! Why don’t you spend a little less time whining and complaining and actually do something to help all these “poor immigrants” and write something helpful!!!! FYI i’m not a poor immigrant and i also have to take the admissions test.

Hate to break it to you all…. I am NOT A IMMIGRANT, I did not complete high school, and am thank full that there is a job requirement exam to allow me the oppurtunity to become a realtor. If you think about it, for all the jobs descriptions that you look at for the avalible jobs, they state High Schhol, College, Univeristy degree they do not allow you the oppurtunity that orea is givening to us.
I am very thankful and am willing to pay the 50.00 to be given the oppurtunity.

Instead of whining about the 50 dollars and talking about immigrants just take the test. No wonder why they have the damn thing half the stuff your trying to say you cant even spell. Some of the words and the way you are putting sentences together is not proper grammer .. well at least not english grammer. As stated above, contact OREA directly. I agree 100% with Eric. Stop looking for a handout. Real Estate is a business not a job. Therefore, once you pass the exams, you’ll be thrown into the world of hustle. No one is going to hand you a
blueprint on surviving this business. Most agents are broke, frustratednd still working a full time job at a fast food restaurant. With that said, you better think long and hard before you spend time and money chasing a dream that demands hard work and designed for entrepreneurs. Good Luck.
Sounds like quite a few people out there want to take the easy way into this career. If you’re not willing to do some studying on your own of basic English and Math, then perhaps this whole process is not for you. I think people should embrace these types of challenges and find out exactly what they are lacking or not!
